Service's Description
Introduction:
Emergency Relief Fund is intended to provide relief in the form of direct and temporary grants for the need of individuals and families in special and emergency situations for which other financial assistance may not be applicable or readily available such as:
- Families in acute financial need due to death of breadwinner
- Elderly living alone who are facing acute crisis
- People who get disabled in an accident and require auxiliary equipments
- Assistance is given in a one-off basis

Application procedures:
-Referrals can be made through the Social Welfare Department, Non-governmental Organizations, local organizations and individuals as well as mass media.

Chronic Illnesses Relief Fund

Service's Description
Introduction:
The chronically ill patients always bear the physical and psychological distress as well as mental disturbance at the same time. According to the 2001 Population Census data, there are about 880,000 Hong Kong people who need long-term medication or follow-up treatment to the chronic diseases. Most of them are deprived. In fact, they face a heavy financial burden on the long-term medical and drug expenses. The establishment of the Chronic Illnesses Relief Fund aims to provide assistant and support to the chronic illness patients’ organizations to deliver the services.

Objective:
The objective of the Fund is to collaborate with the patients’ organizations to provide chronic illness patients with a range of supporting services in their rehabilitation process.

Application procedures:
There are three phases for the application: April, August or December each year. The application forms can be downloaded from the website and submit to the Secretariat with the relevant documents.
